Huqo Docs
Write proposals, letters, reports and everyday business documents, with reusable templates, comments and familiar exports.
On this page
Create your first document
Open Docs from the Suite workspace or the Apps menu. Your document opens in its own tab, so you can keep your files and other Suite apps nearby. Give the file a useful name in the Suite header before you start. A name such as Client proposal - October is easier to find later than Untitled document.
The page in the centre is your writing area. Click it and type, or paste text from another document. The formatting toolbar stays above your work; Outline and Comments are optional side panels. On smaller screens these panels stay closed until you need them.
- Open Huqo Suite, select Docs, and create a document.
- Choose Templates for a ready-made structure, or start typing on the page.
- Replace example wording with your own information, then use headings to organise longer content.
- Watch the Suite saving status before closing the tab. Saved to your Huqo account confirms the latest changes are stored online.
Start with a template without losing your work
Select Templates, then search or choose a category. Select a design to inspect its preview before applying it. Templates provide an editable starting point, including sample wording and page styling; they do not fill in your business details automatically.
You can replace the current document or append the selected template after your existing content. Appending keeps the current page settings and existing content. Replacing applies the template's page styling and clears the current document comments, so export a backup first if those notes matter.
- Use a proposal or report structure for longer customer documents.
- Use the preview to check the layout before choosing an action.
- Read the action label carefully when working in a document that already contains text.
- For another layout experiment, duplicate the file from Suite before changing the original.
Format text and paragraphs
Select the text you want to change, then use bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text colour or highlight. Choose a font from the font selector. The paragraph-style selector provides Normal text, Title, Heading 1 through Heading 5 and Quote. Headings give the document structure and populate Outline; making a line bold on its own does not make it a heading. Select text, use Selected text size and apply the pt value. Aa contains Superscript and Subscript. Clear formatting removes unwanted text styling.
Open Paragraph for alignment, indentation, bulleted and numbered lists, paragraph spacing and text case. Select text before choosing Sentence case, lowercase, UPPERCASE or Title Case. Paragraph spacing applies space before and after the selected paragraphs. Clear formatting is available in Insert when pasted text brings unwanted styling.
- Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I and Ctrl+U apply familiar text formatting while you write.
- Use the toolbar's Undo and Redo buttons for recent editing changes.
- The zoom selector changes your on-screen view from 75% to 125%; it does not change the exported page size.
- Click an Outline heading to jump to that section. Outline includes the document's title and heading levels.
Add links, images, tables and page breaks
Open Insert to add a link, table, image or page break. For a link, select the words first, then enter the full destination beginning with https:// or an email destination beginning with mailto:. You can change the display text in the link editor. Ctrl+K opens the link editor from the writing area.
Images must be PNG, JPEG or WebP and no larger than 2 MB each. Use smaller images when possible because embedded images also count towards the document's saved size. A page break starts a new printed page; use Ctrl+Enter or Insert's page-break tool.
- Choose Insert table and set the initial row and column counts. New tables allow up to 30 rows and 12 columns, with an optional header row.
- Click inside a table cell to reveal Row above, Row below, Column left, Column right, Delete row, Delete column and Remove table.
- Keep edited tables within 200 rows and 30 columns. Row and column editing tools currently require a table without merged cells.
Review wording, layout and notes
Find & replace lets you move through matches with Find next or change every matching phrase with Replace all. Matching is case-insensitive, so check the phrase carefully before replacing it across a long document.
Open Comments to keep review notes with the document. Select text to attach a quoted passage, enter a note and choose Add comment. You can edit a note, find its quoted text, resolve it or reopen it later. If the original quote has changed or appears more than once, check the context before editing. Comments are document notes, not a live conversation or an email notification system.
Page layout controls A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, Comfortable or Compact margins, default text size and default line spacing. Use Print / save as PDF to check the final page breaks and margins before sending a customer-facing document.
Import, export and keep a backup
Import accepts modern Word documents (.docx), Markdown (.md or .markdown), plain text, HTML and Huqo document backups (.huqodoc or the matching JSON format). Imports are limited to 5 MB and replace the current document after confirmation when it already contains text. Imported HTML is cleaned for safe editing. Complex Word layout can change, so inspect the result before using it.
Export offers Word document (.docx), Markdown, Print / save as PDF, Web document (.html), Plain text and Huqo document backup. Choose Word for editable handover, PDF for a stable printable copy, or a Huqo backup when you want to preserve the document's own editing data and notes. The browser's print dialog controls the PDF destination.
- Keep each saved Suite document below 5 MB, including its content and embedded images.
- If Word export reports an image problem, replace WebP pictures with PNG before trying again.
- Allow the print window if your browser blocks Print / save as PDF.
- Use Suite's Export backup and Version history for the complete Suite file workflow; wait for a successful save before relying on the latest online version.
Contents, bookmarks and page furniture
Apply heading styles, then choose Insert > Contents to build a linked contents list. Run Contents again after changing headings to update the list. Outline provides quick jumps without adding anything to your document.
Select text and choose Bookmark to name a passage. Use the link editor or Outline to return to that bookmark. Bookmarks and contents links remain in the editable Huqo backup and supported Word exports.
Page layout includes Header, Footer and Page numbers in exports. Header and footer text repeat in Word, with real page fields. Browser print support varies; inspect the PDF preview. The editor remains a continuous writing surface rather than a live Word pagination engine.
Make tables readable
Click a table cell for row and column controls, Table properties, header-row formatting, cell shading, vertical alignment and a table caption. Tab moves to the next cell. These tools work with ordinary tables without merged cells.
Undo and Redo track document content, layout and comments together. A Huqo backup preserves the full editing model; Word exchange preserves supported text, tables, links and page furniture. Word exports do not include review comments, and imported Word bookmarks receive neutral labels. Huqo backups retain comments and bookmark labels. Keep the original when exchanging advanced third-party Word documents.
Common questions
Why is Outline empty? Apply a Title or Heading 1 through Heading 5 using the paragraph-style selector. Bold body text is still normal text.
Why did an image or imported layout change? Docs supports its own page and formatting model. Check imported content and choose a simpler layout when a source document depends on advanced Word features.
Why does saving show an error? Keep the tab open, check your connection and use Retry save. Export a backup before refreshing or making large changes. If the document is too large, reduce embedded image sizes.
Can other people edit the same document at once? Suite sharing controls access, but this editor does not promise live simultaneous editing. Coordinate edits and use saved versions rather than treating it as a real-time shared cursor workspace.
How do I find a missing toolbar? Paragraph and Insert reveal additional tools. Outline and Comments can be reopened from the top row, and Escape closes temporary tool panels.
